Your Questions About Adhd Symptoms In Adults

Joseph asks…

I am having lots of trouble focusing on my Homework?

I have been a very good student before but now I feel I can’t focus on my homework and have a lot trouble staying on task. Im not having any problems of any kind that would be causing me to not be able to focus. I haven’t been as active in doing exercise as I was before so I don’t know if there is a connection there. I tend to procrastinate a lot and cant stop(specifically with my HW). I am starting to wonder if I could suddenly get Attention Deficit Disorder at the age of 21. Or do you have any tips on staying focused on my homework?I was reading this website and I would say I have a significant amount of symptoms in this website:

If you feel disorganized or like you can’t keep up with your schoolwork, your teachers and school counsellors want to help. Teachers want and expect you to ask for help learning stuff. If all of your subjects seem really hard, a school counsellor can help you sort things out. Special help is available if you need it. Try not to let the problems go on too long. It’s easier to catch up on one chapter than the whole book!

Study one subject at a time; organize your notes; If you are missing some, get them from a friend, or you can find just about everything you need on the Internet. I highly suggest the overlap method. Study a block of material and take a break, stretch, look out the window, get a snack, whatever. When you go back to study, overlap what you just read. However, on your break DO NOT confuse your mind by watching TV, playing video games, or talking on the phone. These activities will eat up more time than you wanted them to and you may mess up what you have learned. When it is time to go to bed, GO TO BED. Again, don’t over stimulate.

Stay away from caffeine. If you find you are getting tired, walk away for a few minutes and get some juice or water. Don’t over stimulate yourself with loud music, television, clutter, etc. I suggest quiet instrumental if you must have music.

You want your brain to absorb the patches you have laid down while studying. Wake early, shower, and start again. Stay away from too many distractions. You will want to absorb as much as you can. Focus on what you can change and you might be able to put the cool back in school!

Start early, be organized, and stay focused. You should do fine. Remember, the best way to eat a two hundred pound cookie is one bite at a time.
If you have questions about the drugs you are taking, check with your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
Take care as always!
